Chapter 18 – Do you speak English?

Grammar point: conjugation of regular verbs with the ending -ar.

Taiko is talking to Nilton about his father and suddenly a passenger approaches them.

Taiko:           Estoy preocupado por mi papá.
Nilton:         ¿Violeta?
Taiko:           Sí…
Pasajero:   Good morning, ¿habla inglés?
Nilton:         Good morning sir, yo hablo inglés. How can I help you?

The passenger wants to know when does the train arrives to its first stop.

Nilton:          At 4 pm, the train makes…(the passenger interrupts Nilton)
Pasajero:     No please…en español, I want to practice my Spanish.
Nilton:           Okay sir. A las cuatro, el tren llega… (the passenger interrupts again)
Pasajero:     Otra vez por favor, más despacio.

Taiko observes the situation with a smile.

Nilton:         El tren llega a las cuatro de la tarde señor.
Pasajero:   ¡Oh! A las tres.
Nilton:         No tres señor, tren…tren…choo!, choo! (train sound)
Pasajero:   ¡Oh! A las ocho, gracias.
